Finally hit the Saluda today. I've been wanting to do this for a while but was a little intimidated to go it alone. I put in at the Buzzard's Roost just below the Greenwood Dam. Water was fairly calm and not very swift at all. The plan was to paddle down a little bit and see how hard it would be to paddle back against the current. It was super easy but just past two he bend there is a set of shoals that stopped me. The current picked up pretty good right there and I don't think I would of made it back. Hooked a couple bass but didn't get them in the boat. One wrapped me around a tree. River fishing is tough. Saw lots of snakes, gar, eagles, and what I guess was a tarantula. Had a great time even though I didn't catch any fish. I'll definitely be heading back that way soon.
