Salt Water Fishing......how to?

Hi,

We are going to Edisto for a week in July and have a house rented on the creek with a nice dock, boat ramp, etc.

I've never salt water fished before and plan to do a bit of it along with my 11 yr old.

Can someone give me some quick insight?

Hoping to get some crabbing/shrimping done also off that dock.
